We shouldn't have to carry insurance cards or copies of our registration
If the papers ever conflicts what the goddamn cop pulls up on their computer we all know what the result is gonna be so skip the stupid step and just look it up.
If it makes you feel any better, we've had them for years in California and there is still almost no scenario where you don't still need your physical ID.
They should also do this for insurance cards. Not needing 5g signal for that would be great. Geico lets me download mine but it's pretty klunky.
The apps for State Farm, Allstate, and Progressive can do this now for Apple Wallet. Google Wallet too, IIRC.

State Farm adds them to Apple Wallet as passes.

I watched my brother-in-law (Colorado) get denied a beer trying to use it in a bar in Michigan. It was pretty funny tbh.
